How to Make Chia Water With Lemon and Ginger as Part of a Healthy Routine

Fresh ginger provides a distinctive spicy flavor and has traditionally been used in foods and beverages, particularly in connection with digestion. Some people find ginger-containing drinks soothing, although individual responses vary.

Lemon adds acidity, freshness, and a modest amount of vitamin C. Perhaps most importantly, lemon can make plain water more appealing, which may encourage some people to drink more fluids throughout the day.

Neither lemon nor ginger should be described as a “detox” ingredient or a guaranteed metabolism booster. The body already has organs, particularly the liver and kidneys, that continuously perform essential processes involved in eliminating waste products.

So what can this popular chia drink realistically do—and how should you prepare it safely? The answer is more useful than the dramatic weight-loss promises often attached to it.

Chia, Lemon, and Ginger Water Recipe

Ingredients

  • ½ liter (about 2 cups) of water
  • 2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • A small piece of fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced or grated
  • Juice of 1 to 2 lemons, according to taste

Preparation

  1. Pour the water into a large bottle, jar, or glass container.
  2. Add the chia seeds.
  3. Add the fresh ginger and lemon juice.
  4. Stir or shake thoroughly so the chia seeds do not immediately clump together.
  5. Allow the mixture to rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes, stirring it again after a few minutes.
  6. Once the chia seeds have absorbed some of the liquid and developed their characteristic gel-like coating, stir again and enjoy.

If you prefer a thinner consistency, simply add more water. The quantity of ginger and lemon can also be adjusted according to personal preference.
