Summer brings intense sunshine and high temperatures, which can affect electronic devices such as the iPhone. If your iPhone becomes too hot, it may enter a protective state to prevent damage to its internal components. During this time, the device may slow down, stop charging, dim the display, or temporarily become unavailable until it cools down.
Apple advises against using an iPhone in direct sunlight or in extremely hot environments, as excessive heat can reduce performance, shorten battery life, and trigger temperature protection features. To help prevent overheating, consider these five tips.
1. Lower the Screen Brightness
A bright display generates additional heat and increases power consumption. Enable Auto-Brightness or manually reduce the brightness to a comfortable level, especially when you’re outdoors.
2. Limit Background Activity
Apps running in the background can increase processor usage and generate extra heat. Close apps you aren’t using, and consider enabling Low Power Mode to reduce background activity and improve efficiency.
